School Wellness Resource Guide
The Wellness Policy Resource Guide is an interactive web-based guide with up-to-date information about developing local school wellness policies and school health councils (SHC).
The Childhood Nutrition Reauthorization Act of 2004 requires all school districts that receive reimbursement for school meal programs to develop local wellness policies related to nutrition and physical activity by July, 2006. PANA strongly suggests that forming a school health council as a great first step in developing those wellness policies.
PANA has compiled national and local resources and information to assist schools and communities as they develop local wellness policies. The resources and materials in the guide are presented in three categories:
- Local Wellness Policies
- School Health Councils
- Template Downloads
Each category offers templates, tips and support information.
The Wellness Policy Resource Guide was developed in collaboration with many state partners and sponsored in part by American Cancer Society and Highmark.
